We build what you want.
Real Tree Woodworking operates out of a 3,500 square foot shop located at 183 Crossett Hill Road in Duxbury, Vermont.
Our shop capabilities include everything needed to complete projects involving solid wood, sheet goods, veneer and laminate. Along with our finish room, we have all of the components needed to build anything you may need, the way you want it.
JON DEERFIELD, Owner & Craftsman
In 2004, just prior to graduating from college with a Bachelors of Art in Furniture Design, Real Tree Woodworking (originally Nature's Curve Woodworking) began in a small artist community called the NACC, in Niagara Falls, New York. While there, I spent several years working with customers on cabinetry, furniture repair and basic carpentry projects, in addition to apprenticing with two master craftsmen on a wide range of custom furniture and cabinetry projects. One project of note was the restoration of a Frank Lloyd Wright house.
In 2007, I had the opportunity to relocate to Vermont. So I packed up the shop and began working for Wall/Goldfinger, a well-respected custom furniture company that specializes in high end commercial office furniture. I had the privilege to work on furniture for various clientele like The New York Stock Exchange, The White House, and The Federal Reserve bank.
Throughout my 4+ years at Wall/Goldfinger I continued to work with my own clients, both local and distant, building the frame work and foundation I needed to make Real Tree Woodworking a full time company again. In the spring of 2012 Real Tree began its second life and we have been building and growing ever since.
MATT JOYCE, Woodworker–Team member since May 2022
Matt was born and raised in Colchester, VT (A full blooded Vermonter). He graduated from the Maine College of Fine Art & Design in 2017 with a BFA in Woodworking and Furniture Design. After 5 years in Portland, Matt went on to continue his education in furniture design at San Diego State University, while also working intermittently as an on call woodworking instructor at Yestermorrow Design Build School in Waitsfield, VT
After his return to VT amidst the early days of the pandemic Matt spent a few years working on a friend’s farm before the draw of woodworking pulled him back to the workshops. That’s when he found us here at Real Tree and we couldn’t be happier to have him!
